Other Interests

Soccer has always been a big part of my life, with my family all being Manchester United fans and my dad having been on Iran's national team. I played club/recreational soccer for most of my youth until COVID. I now play recreationally with friends, often finding pickup games in Hollywood and on campus.

My favorite team is Manchester United, but I am also a big fan of Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona.

One recreational tournament I played in recently was at Santa Barbara, where all the Armenian Student Associations send teams from their schools to compete. Our team managed to come first this year!

I have been a member of the Armenian fraternity at UCLA, Alpha Epsilon Omega, since my freshman year. I have held the positions of social chair and president, and have managed to enact a lot of change in both the organization and my community during my time in college. Among these changes are:

• Directly led effort to raise $24,000 for humanitarian aid in one year
• Increased event participation as social chair by 200%
• Began construction of alumni network to aid members in their career
• Greatly increased benefits for members with more academic resources
• Doubled frequency of social events

While I have just begun my tenure as president of the organization, I am extremely proud of the work we have done so far and the real change I have seen us enact. My main directives for the next two year are to increase our brothers' direct involvement with community service and to further expand resources to allow them to thrive in their studies and career. Despite being a heavy undertaking, I will dedicate myself to making a difference in this organization and the Armenian community.

Music has always been a massive part of my life, with certain songs or artists being associated with certain phases of my life. I've always listened to a wide variety of genres, from Kanye West to Depeche Mode. While I never learned to play an instrument, I've always had a fascination with analyzing music and the intentions of artists with their albums. I have recently started to attend more concerts and festivals, and am hoping that after college I will have the time and funds to travel and see more of my favorite artists live.
